Four Natural Yeast Infection Treatments
Normally, yeast infection is a subject that not many people are comfortable talking about because it involves delicate and sensitive parts of the body, and mostly associated with unprotected sex. On the same note, sufferers tend to deal with their problems and look for solutions on their own, rather than consult the experts. Thus, natural yeast infection treatments are mostly the preferred solution of people experiencing such infections.
Scientifically speaking, yeast infections are caused by a microorganism called Candida Albicans, which mostly affects the vagina. Studies have shown that 75% of the entire women population would most likely suffer such infection once in their lifetime. For women, the most common yeast infection is candidiasis; for men, it is called penile yeast infection.
There are several natural yeast infection treatments known to get rid of such bacteria and most of them can easily be found in your kitchen. Here are some of them:
1.Honey – honey is one good remedy for yeast infection and it has been used since the ancient times. To use it as treatment, all you have to do is pour over a general amount into your hand and spread it over the infected area. Leave it for five minutes and rinse it after. It is advisable to take a bath after doing the treatment so that your genitals will be cleaned up properly. This treatment could give instant relief because the good live bacteria of the honey fights the bacteria that causes the yeast infection.
2.Garlic – garlic is a popular herbal medicine known for its anti-fungal and antibacterial effect. Eating one garlic clove a day can help fight the infection; you have to eat it raw for better results. However, if you’re not comfortable munching down a raw clove of garlic, you can crush it and add it as condiment to your salad dressing or mix it with your favorite dish.
3.Yogurt – yogurt is considered the most effective among all natural yeast infection treatments. This is because yogurt does have live, healthy bacteria that fights and replaces the bad bacteria causing the yeast infection. It contains lactobacillus acidophilus that checks the population of the yeast inside the body and restores of Ph balance of the vagina. You can either eat it or use it as douche to cleanse and flush the vagina. In other cases, a tampon is dipped into a bowl of yogurt and is inserted inside the vagina to stay overnight.
4.Tea Tree Oil – tea tree oil is considered as natures very own anti-biotic. It is often used as a vaginal douche to treat the yeast infection. To do the mixture, you have to mix a teaspoon of tea tree oil, a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol and a pint of water. Make sure that the solution is not too strong, as it can be harmful for the vagina. Use it as a vaginal cleanser to get rid of the bacteria.
These are simple yeast infection treatments that you can easily do at home, but if the symptoms persist, it is advisable to seek medical help for another treatment.
